Nightwind: The Conqueror from the Stars

Faith A properly Black Metal album with an incredibly breathtaking 90's-arcade ass-kicking vibe. Synergizes extremely well between "Piercing Through the Frozen Eternity" and "Burning Embrace" for back-to-back listens; though I can appreciate why one would be preferred over the other.

pinkytheent Another high-octane release from these sword- and mace-swinging fiends! This one feels more, well, fiendish than the previous record. Dare I say more red to the previous record’s blue. It grew on me all the same and it has whetted my appetite yet more for a full-length epic from these guys. Though if they decide that badass little EPs are their path, I sure will not complain! Favorite track: Constellations.

David Fischer While I still prefer their first EP - solely for Wolven Hour - I can fully acknowledge Nightwind as its own, ferocious beast. At the speed of light, Moonlight Sorcery are threshing and trampling their own, 90's-inspired trail through the melodic black metal jungle. And while every member is delivering on a high level, it is absolutely a guitar-centric record: both the riffs and solos are euphoric and stirring - there even is an instrumental centerpiece, oozing with energy. A masterful release! Favorite track: Ancient Sword of Hate.

Bright as the stars in the sky Wielding my ancient sword of hate! In contempt I release a battle cry As a dagger in your eternal strife I cultivate my despise Relentless brilliance a moonlit path of misery icon of lunar sorcery Silver bond of steel a blood filled path of destiny sealed by my sword So taste my sword of understanding one by one, let your towers fall Your castles will crumble to dust in ruins of your dreams humanity and harmony will be laid to rest The relentless brilliance a moonlit path of misery icon of lunar sorcery Silver bond of steel a blood filled path of destiny sealed by my sword So taste my sword of understanding one by one, let your towers fall your castles will crumble to dust in ruins of your dreams humanity and harmony will be laid to rest

Kun Ikuisuus puhuu, suljen silmäni ja ajatuksiini vaivun: Mennyttä aikaa yötuuli kuljettaa Kalpea viestinsä lie sillä ikuinen on tämä hautajaisyö Jos viittaani kätkeä auringon voisin ja elon ahjon sammuttaa Tuhansiksi vuosiksi toivoisin kaiken hautaan saattamaan Ja hämärä verhona leijuu kaikkien metsien yllä Kuulen sotatorven äänen läpi paksuimman sumun Se itkee menneisyyttään elävää Näin Ikuisuus puhui, suljin silmäni ja ajatuksiini jäin: Vuosisatojen kylmä hehku sieluni sai Veri suonissani seisoi, kun nousin yötä kuulemaan Mennyttä aikaa yötuuli kuljettaa Kalpea viestinsä lie sillä ikuinen on tämä hautajaisyö Jos viittaani kätkeä auringon voisin ja elon ahjon sammuttaa Tuhansiksi vuosiksi toivoisin kaiken hautaan saattamaan Ja hämärä verhona leijuu kaikkien metsien yllä Kuulen sotatorven äänen läpi paksuimman sumun Se itkee menneisyyttään elävää Näin Ikuisuus puhui, suljin silmäni ja tyhjyyteen jäin!

about

Moonlight Sorcery Tampere, Finland

Moonlight Sorcery's black metal is a symphonic and melodic variety by nature. The trump card of Moonlight Sorcery is the solos that touch the sky, the majestic melody and the epic grip on the music. Together, these create a strong and gloomy, perhaps even medieval, atmosphere. The band has a huge palette of influences, which is directly reflected in the versatility of the song material. ... more
